GRACIE MOMENTS

To understand anything about this blog, you have to know what a "Gracie Moment" is.   Many, many, many years ago, just after the Stone Age, there was a Vaudeville Act called Burns and Allen.  The couple was George Burns and Gracie Allen.  Gracie seemed to have a reference point totally out of the mentality of anyone else.  In fact you would probably call her a ditz.
Well, that kind of describes me (sometimes) when I try to communicate with my husband.  To illustrate, here is the most classic and the first one in our marriage that has set the tone of “this is probably the way things are going to be as long as we are married.”

I asked my husband to pour me ½ glass of drink.  I held up my glass and my thumb happened to be right in the middle.  He said, “Do you want it to the top half or the bottom half?”
I thought that was a very strange question so I said in all seriousness, “You don’t need to worry about that, it only  fills from the bottom up.  He later informed me he meant to the bottom or top of my thumb.

MARRIAGE SECRETS

If your marriage needs a boast, here are some suggestions:
Laugh a whole lot more at yourself and with your spouse.  If you are afraid to be yourself with your mate, you need to get back to the dating days when you weren’t so unable to communicate, when you were more forgiving, when no matter what happened you could put the past in the past, when you could hardly stand to be apart. Did you run and let him chase you?  Did he hide to let you find him?  My husband and I are doing a lot more of this.
